Akaroa Sea Glass Art
Collecting the sea glass. Giving new purpose. Unique one-of-a-kind designs.

My Process
Discover my exquisite sea glass art pieces, handcrafted with care and creativity. Each piece created is one of a kind, and is designed exclusively with sea glass I have collected from the Akaroa coastline. The glass is not altered in any way and is incorporated into the designs in its original form.

Searching
I search the Akaroa shore lines for sea glass. I also use Akaroa pebbles and shells in some of the art pieces, as well as the colored pottery that often washes up.

Sorting
Sorting the glass into colors, shapes and sizes is the first step in the creating process.

Creating
Taking the sorted pieces to the design table to create unique pieces of art especially for you.

About Akaroa Sea Glass Art
My Story
All Akaroa Sea Glass Art is made with sea glass lovingly collected from the Akaroa seafront. The collected glass has washed up on the beach after many years of weathering by the tides, which produces smoothed edges and on some pieces, a frosted effect. Some of the art pieces feature the pottery shards that also wash up on the Akaroa shores.
The glass collected in Akaroa is generally found in browns, greens, clear and aqua. Cobalt blue sea glass in Akaroa is rare, but can be found, and features in many of the pieces. The pottery is often similar to the "Willow" pattern, and generally is found in white with blue, green or brown designs. Earthenware pieces are also often found and are occasionally used in some of the art. Any rocks, stones or shells featured are also collected from the Akaroa foreshore.
Each piece is unique, and created through hours of careful craftsmanship. They can take many hours to complete, and are securely glued onto a perspex backing. Each design is unique and turns out differently - no two are ever the same.
